Bangkok -- The 49th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair’s (BGJF) performance exceeded original forecast by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA), the fair’s main organizer, in terms of the large number of oversea visitors. And one of the most important landmarks established during the 49th BGJF was the firm commitment pledged by the Royal Thai Government to aid the industry in both upstream and downstream operations in securing Thailand’s place as the world’s top gems and jewelry hub.
Heralded as a fair that exceeded expectations, the 49th BGJF attract greater numbers of international visitors previously projected. According to the TGJTA President, Mr. Somchai Phornchindarak, the organizers were originally concerned as Thailand suffered from severe flooding only months before the fair and news of planned terrorists sabotage. This demonstrated the capacity of the BGJF as a truly world-class fair.
